Families

For families, Gunnersbury Park & Museum is a special place to explore.

In the museum, games, dressing up and objects to play with will help you discover what life was like for families in the past. Outside in the park, why not follow our family trail or create your own scavenger hunt? You can pick your own perfect picnic spot, make the most of all the space to run around and get adventurous in the playground.

What's here for the family

Bringing history to life in Gunnersbury Park Museum

Imagine what life would have been like when the wealthy Rothschild family lived at Gunnersbury. Head to the dining room to meet some of the key characters from the Gunnersbury story. Next, move on to the butler’s pantry and the historic kitchens to find out how this great household was run.

You can also explore what life in the local area was like for families in the past.

To guide you on your visit you can download two fun family trails, one for the Historic House and one for the Museum. Happy trailing!

The great outdoors at Gunnersbury

Let the children lead the way on a family trail through the park. Arm them with their very own trail and you’ll embark on an outdoor adventure complete with lots of activities along the way.

Fancy becoming nature detectives? Then make tracks to the nature trail. The path winds through a woodland glade, past a bug hotel and nesting boxes before popping out in the middle of the wildflower meadow. If you want to take a closer look at any natural items you find, look out for our ‘magposts’ which have built in magnifying glasses.

Play time in Gunnersbury Park's adventure playground

For children who love to swing, climb and slide our large enclosed playground is the perfect place to use up some energy.

Designed for under 14s, you’ll find everything from balance beams to a spider climbing frame to a zip wire. There’s also a separate toddlers' area.

Next to the café is another play space for younger children, which includes a carriage climbing frame.

Good to know

There are toilets in the park (next to the museum) which has baby changing facilities. In the museum we have a family toilet, which includes a toilet cubicle, sink and changing table.

In our museum toilets we provide free sanitary products for visitors.

Prams are welcome in the museum and there is a lift for easy access to all galleries.
