Radical Roots: The Huntleys’ Story

2025 celebrates fifty years since Jessica and Eric Huntley opened the Bogle-L'Ouverture Bookshop on Chignell Place, Ealing. Later the bookshop was named after Walter Rodney, the Guyanese scholar and activist. The space, acting as a bookshop, publisher, and creative hub, played a pioneering role in developing Black British culture as we know it today. The organisation FHALMA continues Jessica and Eric’s legacy.

Over the summer, Gunnersbury Park Museum, FHALMA, and Ealing Council ran a series of events with young people exploring what the Huntley’s work means to them. Inspired by this, Gunnersbury Park Museum’s Young Curators have developed this exhibition.
