ELSF As You Like It

Community at Gunnersbury

As a local history museum for both Ealing and Hounslow, we share stories of people and individuals from both boroughs. Find out more about how we engage with our wider community to offer new experiences that are collaborative and participative.

Our community engagement programme is closely linked to our exhibitions and collections, our exhibitions are co-produced with local communities, taking account of their expertise and lived experiences, so that the voices in our exhibitions are authentic and diverse. Our focus is to work with under-represented audiences and continue ongoing relationships with different groups and people.  We want to make our spaces, collections and programmes more accessible, we do this through collaboration and targeted work, such as outreach workshops and open days.

Young Curators

To support and nurture local young people’s creativity, we established a ‘Young Curators’ programme for young people aged 14-21. Providing a wide range of opportunities for these young people, so that they could respond, contribute and co-curate creative projects that are rooted in their interests and needs, while gaining valuable museum related skills.

Community Cultural Champions

To support and challenge us in our community engagement, we established a Community Cultural Champions, where local people act as critical friends to help shape our programming, including exhibitions and events, making sure that local communities’ voices are heard and represented.
