Gunnersbury Park Museum shortlisted for Museums + Heritage Award!

We’re delighted to share some exciting news... Gunnersbury Park Museum has been shortlisted for a Museums + Heritage Award in the category of 'Community Engagement Programme of the Year'.

The nomination recognises our programme “Peoples Unite! How Southall Changed the Country”, a powerful project exploring the history and legacy of activism in Southall and the communities who helped shape it. Through collaboration with local partners, contributors, and participants, the programme created space to share stories, reflect on collective histories, and highlight the voices that have shaped the borough and beyond.

Being shortlisted in this incredibly competitive category is a huge honour. We’re beyond proud of the project and grateful to everyone who contributed their time, knowledge and experiences to help bring these stories to life.

For us, this nomination is not just recognition of a programme, it’s a celebration of the people and partnerships that make work like this possible.

"I am so proud of everyone who took part in making Peoples Unite the success it was. As a local museum, it’s our job to support our residents and communities in telling their stories and speaking up in their own voices. So many people gave their voices and hearts to this exhibition that I can only thank them and say I’m very proud of the team here at Gunnersbury Park and Museum Trust who brought it all together for a fantastic exhibition enjoyed by so many."

- Victoria Barlow, Head of Museum Services

“It felt like an incredible privilege that our community partners trusted us with their stories. It’s really special to have this recognised by the Museum + Heritage Awards. Peoples Unite was a real team effort bringing together colleagues from across the Museum.”

- Tom Crowley & Ishwari Giga, Curatorial Team
