As part of our ongoing improvement programme, we would like to inform you that sections of the public footpaths in the south-west area of Gunnersbury Park, around Potomac Lake and parallel to Lionel Road, will be resurfaced next month.
These works form part of our continued efforts to reinstate these areas and enhance safety and accessibility for all park users.
Key Details of the Planned Works
1. Commencement Date: 23rd March 2026
2. Duration: Approximately two weeks, weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances may affect the programme.
3. Scope of Works:
4. Temporary Disruptions:
During this period, certain areas may be temporarily closed, and pedestrian routes may be diverted. We kindly ask for your cooperation and understanding while these essential improvements are carried out.
5. Safety Measures:
For the safety of park users, temporary signage and safety barriers will be installed within the work areas. Additional warning signs will also be placed at park entrances to advise visitors to take extra care when walking near the affected sections.
Income generated from the summer festivals held in Gunnersbury Park makes a significant contribution towards funding these improvement works. The revenue raised through these events is reinvested directly back into the park, helping to support essential maintenance projects such as footpath resurfacing, infrastructure repairs, and wider enhancements that improve safety, accessibility, and the overall experience for the local community and visitors alike.
"As a charity, our job is to continue to improve the park for everyone. Every investment we make in the park - including work like this - is funded through the support of our donors, our local councils and any income we generate. We'd like to thank all of our supporters for the valuable contributions to helping us get this essential work done, and to thank our regular visitors for the patience while the works are ongoing"
David Bowler, Chief Executive Officer
We appreciate that these works may cause some temporary inconvenience. However, we are confident that the long-term benefits of improved, safer footpaths will significantly enhance the experience for everyone who uses the park.
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we work to create a safer and more accessible environment for the local community and estate team.
Many thanks
