Collecting to Remember: 2020

As 2020 comes to an end, we are reflecting on a year that has forced us all to change and adapt the ways that we live. Everyday life across the UK as we know it has changed. At Gunnersbury Park Museum we want to record this unique section of Ealing and Hounslow’s history. We are looking to collect objects for the museum which represent this year’s experiences of people from Ealing and Hounslow.

What kind of objects are we looking for?

We are looking for a range of objects that meet our collections policy that will help us to tell the story of how coronavirus has impacted life across Ealing and Hounslow. It could be things like a rainbow that you made for your window, a note that you received through the door from a neighbour offering support, or maybe you kept a daily journal about how life has changed. Have you been sewing masks, taking photographs or making videos to pass the time? There may be other objects that you feel have been important to you during lockdown, or that represent your experience of the coronavirus.

It won’t be possible for us to collect potential objects until it is safe to do so and the museum has reopened, but please email the collections team collections@visitgunnersbury.org if you have objects that you are interested in donating and include a photograph of the object if you can. We will get back to any enquiries or offers when possible.
