Anthony Steel
A behind the scenes shot of actor Anthony Steel working with fellow cast members to release the crew’s Land Rover which was stuck in mud. He was on location for the 1954 Ealing Studios production of West of Zanzibar, filmed predominantly in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
Whilst on location in Tanzania, Roy experienced a terrifying ordeal. As he was wading through a river with his camera equipment on route to take some set photographs, he heard a snake hissing. Preparing for the worst, you can imagine Roy’s surprise when the ‘snake’ turned out to be nothing more than a local villager with a bicycle puncture!
